Design preview v0.100 / September 19, 2026

Original heavy condensed lettering with chamfered corners, inspired by the supplied
ROCK STAR image. Newly authored vector outlines; the reference image is not included.
Two faces, 346 glyphs each: 344 encoded characters, .notdef and optional Star A.
Coverage: printable ASCII, Latin-1, Latin Extended-A, selected punctuation and 13 marks.

INSTALL
For each face, install EITHER TTF OR OTF from font/. Do not install both formats of
the same face at once. Clean and Press are separate family names and can coexist:

  JFFF Backline Press
Both use style Regular and weight 900. Do not synthesize bold or italic.

WEB
Use WOFF2 files and Web/backline.css. Set font-weight: 900, font-kerning: normal,
font-synthesis: none and zero tracking as a starting point.
Clean: 48–320 px web headings / 36–240 pt print titles.
Press: 96–480 px web titles / 72–360 pt print titles.
These are display faces. Use a different font for body text, captions and dense UI.

STAR A
The readable normal A is default. Enable OpenType stylistic set 01 in an app that
supports it, or use font-feature-settings: "ss01" 1 on the web. Only uppercase A
changes. Its advance and kerning are the same. The star is not a Unicode character.

PREVIEW
Extract the complete ZIP and open Preview.html. The tester loads the local WOFF2
files. Switch Clean/Press, Star A, kerning, size and background. Text stays locally
in the browser. All specimen lettering uses the actual exported font.

LICENSE
SIL Open Font License 1.1, included in OFL.txt. Free for personal and commercial
design use, web embedding and redistribution under that license. Font software
cannot be sold by itself. Retain the copyright and license with redistributed files.
No Reserved Font Name is declared. Read OFL.txt for the complete conditions.

STATUS
Usable design preview; not a claim of production-app certification.
TTF, OTF and WOFF2 structure, character maps, NFC/NFD composition, Star A substitution,
Clean pair spacing and core topology, and Press component integrity were checked.

Windows GDI rasterization does not certify Word, Adobe or macOS document layout.
No Hangul, Cyrillic, complete Greek or Latin Extended-B coverage.
Each character has fixed wear; repeated letters repeat the same texture.

SOURCE
Source/ contains Python geometry, two editable UFOs and pinned build dependencies.
Artwork/ includes real-font raster and vector specimens.
manifest.json records SHA-256 hashes for all package files.
